A Note from JenÂ
Hello friends!
Â
Another busy, wonderful summer in the world of books! August was packed—events, great conversations, so much time with readers. I'm grateful for all of it.
Â
A highlight: Spill the Wine, Tell the Story, a fundraiser for the Harford County Bar Foundation and Harford County Public Library featuring NYT bestselling author Nina Simon. I interviewed Nina alongside HCPL CEO Mary Hastler about the stories behind her books, her writing journey, and the moments that shaped her as a writer. It was a fabulous evening: great conversation, books, wine, and an incredible group of readers. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night so memorable!
Â
I also had the best time at Spark in the Park at Park Books on August 15. There's nothing like a day surrounded by books and readers—hearing what everyone's been reading, talking all things Gull Island. Days like that remind me how lucky I am to be part of this book community.
Â
And speaking of books—this fall's Jen's Jewels lineup is fantastic! I'll be chatting with some incredible authors, including Kristy Woodson Harvey, Hank Phillippi Ryan, Helene Wecker, and Madeline Martin. Can't wait to introduce you to these writers and share their stories, books, and recommendations.
Â
On the writing front: I'm almost finished with A Nashville Noel! 🎄🎶 I'm so excited about this one and can't wait to share more soon. Stay tuned!
Â
One favor, in the meantime: if you've read Simplicity by the Sea, please consider leaving a review. ❤️ Reviews matter more than you'd think—they help readers discover my books and make a bigger difference than you might realize. Whether you loved the story, connected with a character, or just enjoyed a little escape to Gull Island, a few minutes of your time truly means the world to me.
Â
Thank you, as always, for being here—for reading my books, coming to events, sharing your recommendations, and cheering me on. I'm so grateful to have you along for the ride. Here's to the last days of summer, lots of good books, and plenty of exciting things ahead!
Â
With gratitude and a little Lowcountry sunshine,
Jennifer 💛📚🌴

Nourish:
🍑 Easy Peach & Burrata Salad
Ingredients
2 ripe peaches, sliced (or grilled)
1 ball burrata cheese
2 cups arugula
ÂĽ cup toasted pecans
2 tablespoons fresh basil, torn
1–2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
Drizzle of olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions Arrange the arugula on a platter and top with sliced peaches, burrata, pecans, and fresh basil. Drizzle with olive oil, honey, and balsamic glaze. Finish with a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
That’s it! Serve with crusty bread and you have an easy summer lunch, appetizer, or light dinner.
Jen’s tip: Add grilled chicken to turn it into a heartier meal—or swap the peaches for fresh figs when they’re in season. 🍑🌿
Sneak Peek: A Nashville Noel
I’m so excited to share that I’m almost finished writing A Nashville Noel! 🎄 I’ve traded the beaches of Gull Island for the bright lights, music, and holiday charm of Nashville, and I’ve had so much fun bringing this new story to life. This festive romance is filled with heart, hope, and a little Christmas magic, and I can’t wait to share more about the characters and their journey with you. I’m putting the finishing touches on the story now, and I’m loving every minute of this new adventure. Stay tuned!

Thought for the Month
As August comes to a close, I’m reminded that every season has a story. Some chapters end, some begin, and the best ones leave us excited to turn the page. 📖✨ 🌅
